The Cute Vintage Things Blog!

Books!

Hello my darlings! So I thought after a day of school I thought I would write a post for my blog. So, I decided to talk about books and not any books but party hosting books, the books I am talking about are Celebration by Pippa Middleton and The Vintage Tea Party Book by Angel Adoree. I got these books last christmas and I was happy to recieve them as they have wonderfull recipes and good tips on how to decorate the venue and also how to do hair and make-up.

Now I know there has been alot of cristicism about Celebration by Pippa Middleton and I know it did not do well when it came to book sales, alot of people were saying it was for posho people! Well I would like to point out that although yes it has somethings included in the book which would cost slightly more than £25 but there are also so fairly cheap things within the book which cost under £20.

So I thought to give you a taster of the book to see if you would like to buy it, I have included one of the recipes:

Afternoon Tea section:

Carrot and Walnut Cake
Serves 8-10

Ingredients:

- 250ml vegetable oil
- 175g light brown sugar
- 3 medium eggs
- 175g self- raising flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- a good pinch of nutmeg
- a good pinch of cinnamon
- a good pinch of ground ginger
- a small pinch of salt
- 115g walnuts, roughly chopped
- 50g raisins, soaked in water and drained
- 225g carrots, grated
For the cream- cheese icing:
- 25g unsalted butter, softened
- 300g cream cheese
- 75g whole walnuts

Method:

Grease and line two 20cm round cake tins with baking parchment. Preheat the oven to 170'C/ gas 3.

Beat the oil and sugar together until the combined, then add the eggs and mix well. Sift in the flour, baking powder, spices and salt, then add the walnuts, raisins and carrots and beat well.

Divide the batter between the tins. Bake for 25- 30 minutes untill the cakes are well risen and spring back when lightly touched. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

To mkae the icing, beat the butter and icing sugar together until light and fluffy then mix in the cream cheese. Thickly spread half the icing one of of the cake layers, sandwich the two together and spread the remaning icing on top. Place the whole walnuts on top of the cake before serving.

So, that was a recipe from Celebration by Pippa Middleton, next recipe is from The Vintage Tea Party Book.

Brie and Walnut Savoury Scones

Ingredients:

- 70g butter, at room temprature, plus extra for greasing
- 250g Plain flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 125ml milk
- 1 large free range egg, lightly beaten
- 125g Brie, cut into small pieces
- 100g walnuts, broken into pieces
- a little egg/ or milk, for glazing

Method:

1.) Prehat the oven to 220'C/ Fan 200'C/ Gas mark 7. Lightly grease a baking sheet with butter.

2.) In a large bowl, mix all the dry ingredients together. Using your fingers, crumble the butter into the mixture until it is evenly distributed, then (still using your hands) gently fold in the milk and egg. The key to this recipe is to not to mix too much, as mixing will take the air out. Once everything has bound together, seperate the mixture into 10 small balls and place these on the prepared baking sheet.

3.) Dvide the brie and walnut pices between the scones and press them gently into the top of the dough to embed them. Glaze with egg, milk or a mixute of both.

4.) Bale for 16-18 minutes, untill golden brown, serve warm.

So, that was a recipe from The Vintage Tea Party Book. Now I will leave you with a few pictures of the books and inside of them.

The Cute Vintage Things Blog!

Hi again! I know this is my second post in one day but I dont care, so I thought I would share with you my favourite fashion accessorie/ bag it is my Satchel with is made by the company Zatchels. And if you have not heard of them they are the same as The Cambridge Satchel they just do it for a much cheaper price, I would highly advice if you like satchels and don't want to spend a fortune you should seriously visit this place. And they are still over £60 but they are made of leather.

Not only do they do Satchels they do other products aswell, they do backpacks minature satchels and a lot more so seriously check them out.

My Satchel is a 14.5 inch and is the colour cream, but if you don't just want a plain cloured stachel they also do polka dots and a Hello Kitty range. I took a few pictures of mine to show you what they are like. (Sorry about the photo quality) So thats it for today, good night.
